Entire movies have been scored using only Kontakt libraries. Besides all the Kontakt instruments you get with Komplete there are hundreds of other instruments available from 3rd parties. Strings, horns, pianos, ethnic, percussion, pads, cinematic effects and drum machines. Kontakt sampler is one of the big differences. Massive X, Reactor, FM8 are all great synths. Battery is solid for drums and with the expansion packs included in Komplete you get a large sample library 100+ kits and thousands of samples that should take care of a lot of your drum needs. You can make tracks in any style with just Komplete. Komplete 13 gives you an amazing amount of production tools. Now if you want to go crazy with sound design and you do some of that as well but major strength is pulling up great sounds and making edits to them.

You can dial up hundreds of great sounds very easily and have them production ready quickly. Omnisphere to me has the best sounding synth preset engine out there. A lot of the instruments have macros so it's not hard to get your own sound quickly. Using the Kontrol browser gives access to several thousand presets. If you want to add Massive X and Kontakt sounds that's easy to do. Of course you don't need to use everything in Komplete. Learning all the instruments in Komplete will take several hundreds of hours. The basics of Omni can be learned in 20 or so hours.

If you're just starting out and need a whole range of capabilities Komplete is the best bet. If you are happy with your drums and don't need detailed (multiple articulations) strings, brass and other sampled instruments get Omni. I've used both before and it really depends on what your primary needs are.
